Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
