Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
