Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A crowd of earlier generations 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool nor good. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
