AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 So you and your deities 161 can lure away from God any 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
