And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship [of Nuh (Noah)]. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 Should We so wish, We can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued. 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 Thus, when they are told, "Spend on others out of what God has provided for you as sustenance," those who are bent on denying the truth say unto those who believe, "Shall we feed anyone whom, if [your] God had so willed, He could have fed [Himself]? Clearly, you are but lost in error!" 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 No (chance) will they then have, by will, to dispose (of their affairs), nor to return to their own people! 50
