The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
