The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
