Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 and by the scatterers scattering (rain) 3 and the severally severing 4 And by the angels that bring the revelations to the Messengers, 5 excusing or warning, 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 and when the messengers are brought together at the appointed time -- 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 For a known extent. 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Proceed to that which you denied. 29 Go on towards the threefold shadow 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 like giant fiery ropes! 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 This is the Day they shall not speak, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 37 Such is the Day of Decision. We will gather you with the ancients. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
