(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
