And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, "In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted." 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. To the house of Prophet Lut. 67 He said, "These are my guests - do not dishonour me." 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from entertaining creatures from the outside world?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood near Midian were also wicked. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
