The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Book, the Clear Koran. 1 Perchance the unbelievers will wish that they had surrendered: 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it, 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
