The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created man, 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
