Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
