The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
