The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
