Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
