The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
