۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
