Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
