The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And the swollen sea 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
