Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
