Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
