Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the dawn 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And the night when it departs. 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 (Muhammad), consider how your Lord dealt with the tribe of Ad, 6 the people of the huge columned city of Eram 7 The like of whom were never created in the realm; 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. 13 for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 None can punish as He will punish on that day, 25 And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding. 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return towards your Lord – you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
