The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
