A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 will indeed be gathered together at a fixed time on an appointed Day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
