The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
