And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
