These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say, "When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?" 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
