The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
