He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
