S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed before their time [for this very sin]! And [how] they called [unto Us] when it was too late to escape! 3 It seems strange to the pagans that a man from their own people should come to them as a Prophet. The unbelievers have said, "He is only a lying magician". 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)! 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
