The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
