Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
