The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
