The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
