The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 in a nearby land. They will reverse their defeat with a victory 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 The promise of Allah! Allah does not fail His promise, yet most people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Evil was the end of those evil-doers, for they gave the lie to Allah's Signs and scoffed at them. 10
