A multitude from the ancients. 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
