The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
