The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
