Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

DESTROYED WILL BE the hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself will perish. 1 No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains! 2 He will soon enter the flaming fire. 3 And his wife, the wood-carrier, 4 In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre). 5

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
