The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
