Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
