Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 He plunged the villages 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ۩ 62
