Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. 30
