and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 These men do say, 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
