The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
