Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
