And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place. 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 Peace be on the Messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
