He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
