Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
